To
Hon. Commissioner of Police
Dr K. Vyankatesham
Nagpur.
Subject:
Compulsory Character Certificate/Verification of Security Guards.
Sir,
At the foremost let me Congratulate you for the various
initiatives taken by the Police Department concerning the safety, security of
the citizens and also the measures taken with regards to the traffic control
& regulation.
Sir, majority of the Apartment as well as Independent
house owners, nowadays avail the services of Security Agencies round the clock.
These Security Agencies and their guards are well aware of all the activities,
movements and minor details of those who avail their services. In other words
they are in a position to monitor (to a large extent) the movements of their
employers. This requires that such security agencies as well as the guards
employed by them should be verified beforehand with respect to their background
and character. Unfortunately this is not in practice right now. Senior citizens
living alone, nuclear families that form a large portion of the city’s
population can be easy targets in case persons of doubtful or shoddy character
are employed as security guards.
Sir, we would appreciate if you can kindly take steps to
ensure that proper verification and/or submission of Character Certificate
becomes mandatory and failure to comply with these measures no one should be
permitted to be enrolled/employed as a security guard. This, we feel, will be
quite helpful to keep a check on crimes, as information about the whereabouts
of employers (Apartment & independent house owners) and their activities
would be in trusted hands to a large extent.
Regards,
Amit Girdhar
