Letter to Principle Secretary, Department Of Education, Maharashtra

To

         Date: 24/01/2017
The Principle Secretary
Higher and Technical Education Department
Mumbai.
Subject: Mandatory Requirement of Domicile Certificate

Sir,
Regards. I am Amit Girdhar Heda from Nagpur. I had filed an online RTI regarding requirement of Domicile Certificate which has not been responded and clarified till date. Sir, students securing admission to LLB course (after clearing the Entrance examination conducted by DTE) are required to submit domicile certificate. While this may be justified for those students who are not from the state of Maharashtra. However students, who have been born, educated and are residents of the state of Maharashtra, having all the requisite documents to prove their domicality are also asked to submit domicile certificate.
Sir, this requirement puts the students to unnecessary hardships, both mentally and economically as it is very tough to source domicile certificate without availing the services of unauthorized and gullible agents who exploit the helpless students. I am sure; students securing admission in other streams also may be facing similar problems. I tried to communicate with the education department, mantralaya where I was told that such rules are framed “generally” & was advised to bring the matter to your kind notice.

Sir, request you to kindly look in the matter sympathetically so as to give relief to the students who are citizens of Maharashtra State & possess the relevant documents to prove the same.

Regards,

Amit Heda.
